New test series for data input devices
“Underwaterproof“ test makes highest requirements
"Underwaterproof" is the designation for a completely new test series of InduKey products. The central point of the tests is the test of resistance of the data input devices during a long term immersion and operating under water. Thus it shall be assured that the devices do not only comply with requirements on functionality and ruggedness at short time motionless support, but also at long term operation under water. This test refers less to the utilisation options for the products under water than to quality of material processing above all.
The test conditions excess the requirements of DIN EN 60529 for a degree of protection IPx8. The data input devices are positioned for at least 24 hours at a depth of at least one metre under water surface whereupon keys are pressed in regular intervals. After this period the tested devices must continue to function perfectly and must not show any other functional or visual damages. InduKey has tested successfully the products of the keyboard/ mice series InduProof and InduMouse.
Highest processing quality, a consequent quality assurance and relevant know how already at the moment of design of such products are essential for success in this test. A special symbol identifies the "Underwaterproof" tested products in the media. |
