Industrial operating systems: configuration "on demand"

The individual configuration of control panels is a further performance module of the InduKey Keyboard Production GmbH & Co. KG. Within the scope of custom solutions, the specialist in data input offers the development, construction and fabrication of complete operating systems. Partly standardised components simplify the solution process; this way, an on-demand configuration is easily facilitated.

InduKey is dividing the control panels into four basic elements: the base carrier or carrier plate/casing, the central data input unit, the additional data input unit as well as the data output unit. From those elements, the customer is able to derive various versions which are always oriented towards the demands made by the operational environment.

As component carriers, various materials can be used. In the majority of cases, aluminium or stainless steel is used. However, further possible options are carbon or plastic. The carriers can be integrated into the system in various ways. By default, stay bolts for the front mounting of the carrier plate which are mounted on the reverse are used. An additionally applied front membrane offers protection, as well as the possibility to graphically represent symbols and operating elements.

In the complete product range, InduKey offers central input units. Stainless steel keyboards, silicone keyboards, membrane-keyboards, long travel keyboards, or capacitive sensors are the basic technologies. The number of keys, their marking, and their form is freely configurable. Additional operating elements or functional components, such as illuminated displays, emergency stop switches, trackballs, touchpads or joysticks complement the main input unit.

As output units, displays of varying inch sizes are used. Premounted touch screens working with various technologies (capacitive, resistive, and acoustic) provide for an easy operation of the monitor - the menu is realised by means of the software.

A thorough briefing with the enquirer is the starting point for the development and fabrication of an individual control panel. Before technical details are discussed, the demands made by the operational environment are talked over. If the site of operation is an explosion-prone area, specific electric parameters have to be considered. In case of a possible impact of heat, the consistency of the material is in the centre of attention. There are almost no limits to the possibilities of customised control panels. During a mutual, target-aimed process, InduKey is the partner for application-oriented and innovative projects.
